Mike Pym is a consultant to Maxwell IP and is the Director of Pym's Technology Lawyers and has over 18 years experience in technology contracts and IT law. He holds an Honours Law degree, and qualified as a barrister in England in 1986 and is now admitted as a solicitor in NSW.
Prior to establishing Pym’s Technology Lawyers Mike was the National Practice Group Leader of the Technology, Intellectual Property and Outsourcing Group at one of Australia's top 15 law firms. He has also had extensive experience acting in senior roles as in-house counsel for global technology and consulting companies including Accenture and Oracle. He has also held senior general management positions in IT companies.
Mike's expertise includes advising on, drafting and negotiating major outsourcing contracts, systems integration, consulting contracts, software licenses, distribution agreements, hosting agreements and alliancing contracts. He has particular expertise in advising on Government procurement issues, responding to tenders and dealing with State and Federal Government ICT contracting. Mike also has extensive experience in contract management, as well as business practises in IT companies.
Mike has acted for some of the largest and most prestigious technology and outsourcing companies within Australia and worldwide, as well as a number of smaller Australia IT companies and government agencies. Mike also acts for the peak Australia IT industry association, the Australian Information Industry Association (AIIA) which represents more than 70% of the IT industry, as well as the Information Technology Contractors and Recruitment Association.
Mike is an active member of the AIIA legal committee and regularly presents seminars to the IT industry regarding Government contracting, outsourcing and alliancing contracts. He is also a regular contributor to the NSW Computers and Law Journal.
