Len Mancini joined Maxwells in 2004 as a Solicitor and as a technical
assistant. Len graduated from the Australian National University in 1997
with a Bachelor of Science with Honours, majoring in Genetics and
Molecular Biology and in 1998 with a Bachelor of Laws. He was admitted
as a Solicitor of the Supreme Court of NSW in 1999 and was registered as
a Patent and Trade Mark Attorney in 2006.
As a Patent and Trade Mark Attorney, Len prosecutes trade mark
applications including, when necessary, the preparation of evidence for
use during prosecution and opposition proceedings. With respect to
patents, Len is involved in drafting patents for local clients in a
range of industries including the information technology and computing
industry. Len also provides product clearance and infringement advices
in respect of a range of industries, but particularly in the field of
pharmaceuticals. Len is also involved in the provision and advice and
representation in respect to contentious IP issues, including copyright
and internet domain name disputes.
With litigation skills gained from working at Herbert Smith Solicitors
in the UK and acting for Roche over the recombainant blood hormone
erythropoietin, and ING Australia where Len spent two years in house
working in the areas of litigation and regulatory risk, Len is capable
of representing a client's interest at every stage of a dispute. At the
pre-litigation stage, Len provides infringement advice, drafts and
responds to letters of demands and prosecutes patent and trade mark
oppositions. If the matter cannot be resolved, Len, as a Solicitor of
the Federal and High Courts, is able to take matters futher by either
commencing or defending proceedings on behalf of the client.
