Len Mancini joined Maxwells in 2004 as a Solicitor and as a technical assistant. Len graduated from the Australian National University in 1997 with a Bachelor of Science with Honours, majoring in Genetics and Molecular Biology and in 1998 with a Bachelor of Laws. He was admitted as a Solicitor of the Supreme Court of NSW in 1999 and was registered as a Patent and Trade Mark Attorney in 2006.
Since joining Maxwells, Len has practiced both as a solicitor and as a Patent Attorney. As a solicitor Len has been involved in intellectual property litigation and the enforcement of intellectual property rights. Len has drawn upon litigation skills obtained whilst working for Herbert Smith Solicitors in the UK in the Kirin Amgen v Roche & TKT patent infringement trial concerning the recombinant blood hormone, erythropoietin, and 2 years spent in-house managing ING Australia's litigation and regulatory risks.
As a Patent and Trade Mark Attorney, Len works closely with James Maxwell in the firm's trade mark practice including all aspects of trade mark oppositions, gathering and preparation of evidence and trade mark prosecution and enforcement. With respect to patents, Len is involved in providing patent advice and the drafting of patents for local clients in a range of industries. Len also advises clients in respect of domain name disputes and other issues concerning the internet, including copyright infringement.
